Stay details

Villa Iguana is a standalone eco villa on the ground floor of a purpose-built structure within La Ecovilla, a regenerative community in San Mateo, Alajuela — featured in Netflix’s Down to Earth series. The villa accommodates up to four guests in one double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom featuring a signature stone bath, plus a separate guest WC. A covered terrace looks out over the Machuca Valley — the natural place to start the morning or wind down in the evening.

The open-plan living area and fully equipped kitchen flow directly onto the terrace. Guests have access to all of La Ecovilla’s community grounds and are a five-minute walk from the Machuca River for wild swimming and riverside hiking. A local breakfast is delivered to the villa each morning. The property features bioclimatic cooling, an outdoor jacuzzi, and is fully furnished with a dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer.
